Commodore Tet Lwin Tun

Commandant of the Myanmar Coast Guard

Commodore Tet Lwin Tun is presently performing as the Commandant of the Myanmar Coast Guard. He was born in 1972, and has undergone his officer cadet training at Defense Services Academy. Then he was commissioned in 1994 as an executive officer of the Myanmar Navy and completed Naval Orientation and Watch-keeping from 1995 to 1996 as an additional officer onboard ships. Further, he got a PSC from the Command and General Staff Course in 2012 and completed the Naval Higher Command Course in 2013 at the Naval Training Command. He completed National Defense College in 2018. He was appointed as the Governor of ReCAAP Focal Point (Myanmar) in 2021. In addition, he has done the Diploma in Law in 2022.

During his long career in the Navy, Commodore Tet Lwin Tun had served onboard various ships and establishments. His prominent appointments in the Navy were Fleet Commander, Commandant of Naval Training Command and Commander of the Naval Region Command. During his tenure in the Navy, he carried out maritime security affairs, HADR operations, and naval interactions between adjacent and regional navies. His best interactions could be seen in ReCAAP’s Governing Council Meetings, the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium, the ASEAN Defence Senior Officials’ Meeting (ADSOM), the ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meetings, the BIMSTEC Meeting and other relevant maritime security matters.

On 21st October 2024, he was appointed as the second, but visionary and innovative, the Commandant of the Myanmar Coast Guard.
